CELLvo™ Human Chondrocytes (<40y) are mature, primary cells sourced from young individuals. They may be selected as uncultured (P0), or isolated and expanded on CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix.
CELLvo™ Healthy Human Chondrocytes (50-70y) are primary cells, sourced from healthy individuals 50 to 70-years old and verified free of osteoarthritis. Cells are supplied as uncultured (P0).
CELLvo™ Osteoarthritic Human Chondrocytes (50-70y) are primary cells, sourced from osteoarthritic individuals 50 to 70-years old. Cells are supplied as uncultured (P0).

A GROWTH SUBSTRATE FOR RAPID CHONDROCYTE EXPANSION
CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix is an Extracellular Matrix providing unique support for chondrocyte expansion. When grown on this matrix, CELLvo™ Human Chondrocytes attach and proliferate more rapidly, and exhibit similar morphology to in vivo chondrocytes. CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix is composed of more than 150 proteins that were secreted and assembled by human chondrocytes directly on the surface of standard cell culture vessels. Cells are then gently extracted leaving a native three-dimensional microenvironment providing for rapid and reliable expansion of cells.

Q: Are CELLvo™ Human Chondrocytes better than most commercially available Chondrocytes?
Yes, CELLvo™ Human Chondrocytes are sourced from rigorously defined donor tissue specified by age and health status. Our Human Chondrocytes are gently processed and provided at P0 or at P1. You will always receive cells that are closer to naturally occurring chondrocytes than any other cell available.
When isolated and expanded using CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix, the cells proliferate and expand more naturally.
Q: How do CELLvo™ Human Chondrocytes impact my research study?
In two ways: By maintaining natural phenotype as shown by the comparison of COL2A1/COL1A1 ratio in the chart below, and, in the case of CELLvo™ Osteoarthritic and Healthy Chondrocytes, improved experimental design for cartilage therapies and regenerative medicine.
Q: Why culture my Chondrocytes on CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix versus other comparable products?
Because chondrocytes cultured on the CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix are more responsive to stimuli and are not “busy” responding to a foreign microenvironment. CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix is a naturally produced biomimetic substrate that allows chondrocytes to respond to experimental variables rather than an artificial substrate.
Q: Are CELLvo™ Human Chondrocytes and CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix produced under GMP guidelines?
The StemBioSys facility was built with GMP certification in mind. We have two different areas; One area is for making reagents used in the production of CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix and the second area is a Class 10,000 (ISO 7) room with HEPA filtered air and monitored positive pressure. The CELLvo™ ChondroMatrix process is performed in Class 100 (ISO 5) biological safety cabinets within the clean room. While our current product is for research use only and does not require GMP, we are manufacturing the product under the spirit of GMP requirements in anticipation that we will switch to full GMP certification in the near future.
Q: Can I choose my CELLvo™ Human Chondrocyte Donors to meet my experimental design (age, gender, etc.)?
